My knowledge base about Portland’s Eastside is expanding as a real estate broker. For example, I can’t say I’ve always known every neighborhood name in SE. The few I’ve known in the past were neighborhoods where I’d lived. Beth and I showed this house yesterday in the SE Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood. Creston-Keniloworth lies between SE 26th Avenue on the west and SE Foster Road (to SE 61st Avenue) on the east, and between SE Powell Boulevard on the north and SE Holgate Boulevard on the south (thank you, Wikipedia). You may know this neighborhood if you’ve spent any time at the C bar,  or the neighborhood favorite, Ship Ahoy Tavern. There are some great old Portland homes in the area with tons of charm that have been well maintained. Those that we’ve toured could definitely use some updating, but will make sweet homes once complete. Gladstone is emerging, too. There’s a new kid on the block called Rocio’s. A Mexican restaurant with an extensive Tequila menu and yummy tacos that should do well. Creston Lofts is a new mixed-use property. The three buildings will house Studio, 1-Bedroom and 2-Bedroom contemporary residential lofts as well as two street-level commercial tenants. If you’re looking for an emerging neighborhood with some still affordable homes, this may be worth checking out!
